Yogalates is the fusion of Eastern & Western, Modern & Ancient techniques of the mind body approach to physical development. It is a thoroughly original and innovative movement system combining both these brilliant art forms. Yogalates is the modern form of yoga for the western body that bridges the gap between eastern and western exercise by applying the principles of core stability in Pilates to common yoga postures.
The Yogalates™ phenomenon has achieved international recognition through the sale of Louise’s award winning DVD’s and book. Louise also founded the highly acclaimed Yoga Pilates Training Academy based in Australia which has developed a accredited Diploma course and also offers correspondence certificate courses plus workshops and trainings overseas. Louise is also a highly regarded lecturer at the Southern Cross University on Core Stability.
The 7 day intensive workshop will teach participants the principles of Yogalates™, and how to adapt them to yoga postures. Handouts will be included.
- Learn the anatomy of core stability and what it means.
- Identify and isolate the specific muscles responsible for stabilising the structures of the body
- These structures will focus primarily on the joints, spine and pelvis.
- Learn how to apply the 3 Yogalates girdles of strength and synergy through core stabilising exercises.
- Identify neutral spine and its importance in safe functional movement.
- Implement the above Yogalates principles to identify contra-indications and enhance safe practice of asana.
- Learn to assess and correct the common imbalances in the musculo-skeletal system to support individual practice or teaching.
- The workshop will incorporate some unique and exciting techniques with the use of a Physiotherapy resistance band to assist in joint mobilisation and stabilisation.
- An optional days training in Swiss ball (Yogalates style) will be available depending on numbers and bookings.
