Simon Borg-Olivier MSc BAppSc (Physiotherapy) has been teaching yoga for twenty years throughout the world. He is a registered physiotherapist and is co-director of one of Australia’s largest yoga schools - Yoga Synergy.
Yoga Synergy style is traditional hatha yoga with an understanding from exercise-based physiotherapy. It focuses on the six main principles of applied anatomy and physiology of yoga:

This workshop is a must for any Yoga practitioners/teachers or bodywork therapists wanting to broaden their knowledge in the application of safe movement and function. It will cover a range of topics such as assessing functional movement patterns, learning how to identify faulty patterns/posture which may lead to compensations and possible injury. This is addressed by exploring muscle length tension relationships and the pelvis, lower back, rib cage and shoulder girdle as stability platforms.



Ortho- Bionomy, is a holistic system of body-work which relieves tension patterns without the use of force. Instead, comfortable positions, light compression and positional release are used. This triggers the body’s own innate ability to self correct and re-educates it into more functionality and equilibrium, correcting misunderstandings and dissolving compensatory tension patterns. The workshop will focus on the alignment of the pelvis and will consist of lecture, discussion, demonstration and primarily hands on practice of the techniques.
