Class Styles
Yogalates - Signature class and award winning fusion
Yogalates is a unique blend of Yoga and Pilates, yet not simply these two combined to make one class. The creator of the Solomon YogalatesTM Method, Louise Solomon, developed this method in the 90's. What makes this method so unique is that unlike many practices of Yoga where the breath is taught as inhale and exhale, Yogalates takes you deeper into teaching how to functionally work with the breath, for many this means re-training poor breathing patterns. The functional breath in Yogalates becomes the 'core', supporting the body structurally, the nervous system and an awareness at the centre of 'being'. Yogalates also works closely with alignment of the body in postures, also working from a neutral spine base, which with repetitive practice helps correct postural imbalances that may be inhibiting functional movement, breathing, causing pain, injury and other conditions in the body. Yogalates is a mindful practice that refines the body and the breath by taking you deeper into awareness, liberating the mind.
It caters for all different body types, ages and abilities & supports postural alignment and your overall well being. All postures are taught with the awareness of stability in the joints and progressing from a preparation stage increasing the load and effort so that everyone has an option to suit their body and fitness level. Relax and de-stress by practising the renowned restorative Yoga techniques to increase your well being. Postures are modified to suit your body.
The Yogalates method is on the referral base from Health practitioners ie. GPs Physiotherapists, Osteopaths etc.
Hatha Slow Flow
Where slow is the new strength. This class is Vinyasa Krama (meaning 'special placing steps') fused with the Yogalates principles. This is a flow into and out of a posture (as neural and muscular skeletal preparation) before a hold and stay.
Focus is on identifying and building a strong core foundation for your Yoga practice. Learn how to recruit and build core strength in static holds, slow flow movements, foundation standing and balancing postures. Explore the traditional Yoga “Salute to the Sun” sequencing. You will develop inner resilience and build outer strength, extend your flexibility & improve alignment. If you have an acute injury you may need to discuss prior to attending and you may want to consider trying the Yogalates General Classes as a stepping stone to this class. Not suitable for prenatal clients.
Yin Yoga
A restorative floor-based class which uses poses to nourish and stimulate the connective tissues of the body. A Yin practice is likened to as 'undoing' or 'releasing', the focus is on breath to help surrender and release tightness & tension in the body.
Its aim is to increase circulation in the joints, improving flexibility, strength and providing support for the immune system.
A more meditative approach to yoga, Yin aims at cultivating awareness of inner silence. Elodie's classes offer an opportunity to develop a contemplative practice. Becoming still in a pose and staying for a while, creates space in the mind for it slow down, time for the body to relax and for you to just be.
Yin Yoga can be seen as a style of yoga that might compliment a more dynamic practice or lifestyle, and assist in bringing balance to the body and mind.
Class Levels
Level 1 - Suitable for beginners or anyone who is wanting a more gentle slow paced class. Key instructions and the Yogalates
basics are covered in detail.
Level 2 - Is at an intermediate level. Is a stronger class that will cover the signature Yogalates foundations and move at a faster pace then level 1.
All classes end with a sweet nourishing Savasana.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY
''Yogalates is an incredible approach to self-care and wellness. I am delighted to have been able to experience the profound health benefits over time from this amazing practice. Being an Osteopath and mother I am very interested in holistic, effective and safe approaches to optimal health, Yogalates is JUST that! I love the clear instructions throughout the practise and that there are always multiple options to suit your body and your ability. It is the most wonderful way to spend 'me-time' in my week and feels like 2 hours of mind, body, spirit decompression (we all need decompression). I love yogalates! I will absolutely be doing the teacher training at some point in the future, so I can help spread the amazing feeling and health that it brings.''
Also I would like to add that Olive is an exceptional teacher. I enjoy so so much my Saturday mornings at her class! She is very talented in her delivery of Yogalates and has a kind and warm nature. I really appreciate her classes very much! THANK YOU OLIVE :)
